my personal experience with 2-stroke motorcycles
(from the age 15 till now, 2-strokes ONLY)
People all sey they are unreliable, but they are VERY RELIABLE if you do things right.
On a 2-stroke, every mod you do, you MUST do a carb setting. unlike the 4-strokes there is a higher chance of your cylinders siezing. you MUST put good 2-stroke oil in. and also, as seasons changes, carb settings change, so carb setting is the key in 2-strokes.
My 80cc KSR is 70k and going without any rebuild. Ive seen 120k without any rebuild also. If you redline it 24-7, thats just gonna kill the motor, like anyother motor.
For modding, the key is Chambers and Carb setting. unlike 4-strokes, the backpressure from teh chambers is the key for power, so if the shape of the chambers differ, the power curve differs too.
rebuilding 2-strokes arent hard as well, since there arent as many parts as 4-strokes. take off head, take off cylinders, bring it to a machineist, get it bored, put in oversize piston, done.
hope that helps
