Default no vtec in the b16

We just put a b16a2 in my friends civic hatch. We found out it had a bad ecu but we got a new one and it is running. Now we can't get the vtec to engage. We have checked out all the wiring and the solenoid and everything is fine. Any ideas what it could be?

Got oil? Sure you are running the proper ecu?

Yes it has oil. We put the p72 in it. As far as we know that works with that motor. Any other suggestions?

Try using brake cleaner and spray around the edge of the vtec sioldnoid. My friend did it last saturday cause his vtec wasn't kicking in. Once he did it...The sucka kicked in nicely! It wouldn't hurt if you try...

If you are trying to hit VTEC before the car warms up it won't engage due to improper oil pressure as stated above.

Is your oil pan ok? If the oil pan is dented that too can cause problems.

Check your knock sensor if it's hooked up. You should have 3 extra wires to hook up, vtec pressure, vtec solinoid, and knock sensor. Just double check those.
