well its all in what you want....
fast top end = new R1 (but personally if i were choosing a 4cyl liter bike i'd be on the GSXR 1000)
gobbs of torque = new 2002 RC51 or Suzuki TL1000R
Suzuki Hayabusa is a GSXR 1300, currently battling the Kawasaki ZX12 for the fastest top speed title (~210 mph) kinda has a rep of the "old mans" sport bike, my dad has one and he's 47, but he rides the dog **** outta that thing and it is FAST!!!!!!!see image below
if you cant tell like suzuki bikes

Couldnt tell ya liked 'zukes
haha.
Ive actually considered the 'busa. The only thing holding me back is that I live in WV, with A LOT of curvy roades and Im afraid that the R6 has spoiled me on handling.

I have a busa, but my riding buddies call it a monster.

If you want a bike with close to the same power and that handle good geta gsxr1000. a r1 has a lot more power then what you have too but its not in the same crowd as the gsxr 1000 even with a pipe, ect. what even you get have fun and keep at least one wheel on the ground at all times.....

R1 is flat out ridiculously fast. It weighed around the same amount as my 600, and would just fly. My opinion on the RC51.. it's awesome.. but it's a track bike. Flat out speed, get a busa. RC51 isn't a straight line speed bike. Don't know much about the Kawasaki's.
holy **** dude! i dont see how u handle that monster! 310 hp/200 ft/lbs! have u takin it to the track? what does it run? ure friends have a right to call that bike the monster.
Nice HMF pipe. My buddy had one put on his R1. Sounded great. I was going to put one on my F4i and was planning a trip up to see him (damn, I forgot his name), when I took a nasty spill.

me personally i have been an r1 ***** since i saw spy shots of it in cycle world back in like late 96...i love that bike....the rc51 is also a great bike as well....but for me r1 all day....
I ride a tl1000r and I think you will really like the rc51 vtr1000....I mean there not a top end bike or anything so dont think you can go out there and beat a gsxr 750 in a 1/4 mile or anything...but V twins are so fun to ride...the tourque is amazing. The sound is great too.

Just depends on what you want man, V-twin or what....
The Kawasaki ZX-12R probably shouldn't be ruled out either..

RC51 is a great bike. Honda is supposed to be coming out with a v5 in 2004 to replace the 954 and rc51 so you might want to wait.
