After installing header, will I need custom piping?
I'm planning on buying a header for my DX, my question is this: After I insall the header, will I need to get custom piping done, or does the header end where the stock piping begins? I'm only asking because I know the cat is on the stock exhaust manifold and it will need to be relocated, but will the new header bolt right on without any other work?
Loud because the header is loud, or loud because there will be not cat? I do plan on relocating the cat after the header is on.
the header will make it a lil louder and not having the cat will make it louder as well. also depends on the exhaust system your running.
Civics without cats sound like bumblebees, get a glasspack and have it welded on before your muffler and the bumblebee sound will go away.
I don't plan on being without the cat for very long. I'll put the header on, then when I have enough money to get the custom piping that's when I'll put the cat back on. Maybe a month. Here's my plans for my exhaust, Header, 2.25" piping, high flow cat, Mugen Twin Loop muffler. What do you guys think of this setup?

Relocating your cat converter is not a good idea. It might throw some problem to your ECU. The reason why honda placed the cat near the engine is to use the heat coming from the engine..
I could be wrong too but do a little more research.

uh most aftermarket headers are desigend to work with your cat (stock or hi flow) however there are some where u can putt a straight pipe in place of the cat
u dont usually need any custom pipping unless u want a custom exhaust system, or if u want an aftermarket exhaust u can bolt that right up to the cat

he's got a dx the cat is part of the exhaust manifold, when he puts the header on there will be no cat. just try and find a cat from an ex.
After I put the header on, can I just use an exhaust from an EX, are all the bends the same? Then I would have a header and still have a cat.
Even if you use EX cat converter, I think it will still thow some check engine to your computer.
That's why most header companies don't have smog legal headers for 96-00dx because of the location of the cat converter.

NOT CORRECT!!!
He's converting his exhuast system to an ex!! cx/vx/dx/ls have the cat up front right behind/between teh radiator/ac fan........if he puts on a aftermarket 4-2-1 header then that header will take out the cat alltogether....and will connect striaght to hte stock exhuast!!!
what he wants to do and is correct is use an after market ex exhuast and the header...now he'll have the "gap" for lack of better words to bolt on a stock ex cat or 99 si cat (same size no benifits just same size) or hi flow cat and not have to do any cutting or welding!! Its all bolt on bro go for it!!
I know this cuz I did this to my vx!!
