Gutting
simply removing the back seats and the rear seatbelts will be enough for most people that still want the car to look somewhat user-friendly.
next stage up is to remove all of the carpet and then the side panels in the rear.
also you can remove small things like the shift console, upper side panels (pillars), roofliner and misc. dash parts.
if you are gonna go all out, remove everything, even the door panels and dash!

If you are going to "gut" it I agree, you should go all out. Like this guy:
Props to colt. Anyways, I think I will keep my car stock interior, it is a much nicer ride compared to my bro's gutted hatch. Oh well in the end it's up to you.

P.S. Yes, the gauge cluster is Ziptied to the steering column, a little too hardcore for me.

Done right, like this?

It will probably look like **** unless you get it all repainted, because Honda puts very little color and no clear on the floors and walls of their cars. You will also have tar **** on the floors and other places depending on what car you have, and even if you get that off clean with dry ice then the floor will be primered underneath and it won't look very good at all.
I had my entire insides painted base/clear so it would be uber-clean.
I'm just ****-picky, that's all.

tom, once again....
so fresh and so clean
so fresh and so clean
i've seen gutted civics and crx before...
and the weight reduction really seems to help with the time..
Actually he cheated. He still has door panels and what appears to be the pillar plastics.
Scott
the cleanest hatch ive seen gutted was that green EG with the mugen RnRs(black with red lip i think)he was with FFsquad,..i dont think it was katmans car though,..anyone have the pic of the car im talking about
Done right, like this?

.
. It's been said a bunch of times, but you have, hands down, one of the cleanest hatches I've ever seen man
. How's the broken axle replacement coming, BTW?
Out of curiosity, why do you people do this? Weight savings? That "race" feel?
I think it's just oogly as hell. I have a drag rex that is gutted... but it's a straight drag car.
My boy's rex had a leak, so a bunch of water got in and it got kinda moldy, and ****... but what other reason would you do this for? While Tom's car is very "clean" in the kind of way you can eat off of it... I just don't see the attraction.
peaces.

yes. Id hate to be in an accident in it myself. I cut everything out of the doors besides the jam area with door hinge and latch, reinforcement bars in door, inner structure of rear fenderwells, no dash, no doorpanel anymore, pretty much just all the inner bracing besides the shocktowers down. If i got hit by a 10 speed it would prolly be a catastrophy. theres no cluster in there anymore either, and id bet its under 1000 lbs with no motor or trans.
essentially all the car is is the floorboard, engine compartment and the outer body of the car itself. Just like a nascar. Im not putting the motor back in till its caged however. But i did drive it a few days like this. And all i can say is wow. fun times.
