Default JDM H22..sensor between FPR and IM..?

What is this?

It's not on the USDM engines.

Do I need it? It came stock like this, so unless someone can tell me why I don't need it I'd like to leave it.

PIC:

well, on mine that senser is mounted on the firewall so i just got rid of that one and ran the vacuum line from the mani to the other valve and bypassed that one completely.......but i have a prelude, and i cant remeber if you have the same kind of set up on your car (former vx driver)

to be honest it looks like it's connected to an EGR.. do the JDM's come with those? And if so, I bet it's the control selinoid for it, rather than sticking it way over on the drivers side like the USDM is, and i say this because it looks as if the hose runs to the "EGR" looking thing

Courtesy of preludeonline.com:

"Intake Resonator butterfly System

note: this is not to be confused with the INTAKE MANIFOLD butterflies discussed elsewhere (the IAB system)*

The H22 and H23 utilize a vacuum-controlled butterfly system on the intake resonator (that big *** black box in your fender well), the F22 does not. If you are replacing an F22, we will be eliminating this system entirely. The only real purpose of this system is to reduce intake noise, so don’t worry about any adverse effects. If you are replacing a H23, the system will be retained (unless you have a CAI, which effectively eliminates the system altogether). The JDM H22 has the resonator solenoid mounted on the fuel rail; the H23 has the solenoid mounted near the air filter.

If you are replacing an F22, remove the solenoid and associated vaccum lines, then run a new vacuum line from the top of the FPR to open nipple on the intake manifold.

Cap the nipple on the back on the intake manifold that is normally used for the resonator butterfly system.

If you are replacing an H23, remove the JDM solenoid and connect the butterfly vacuum lines as indicated in the Helm’s manual."

This is the procedure I followed (actually, I wrote that). My swap has been running for about 3 weeks now, with no codes other than the 02 sensor (because I dont have one installed yet). Hope this helps.
