uh thats a heat shield. whats shown above is a skid plate. big difference.
heat shield keeps the engine bay cooler.
skid plate protects the header from getting dented.

can the heat shield and skid plate be used together? I'm all about keeping the car low key, even under the hood.

I have future plans of getting the JDM 4-1 header and using the upper heat shield to keep the stock/sleeper look
.
The JDM 4-1 is the actual OEM japanese header made by honda used on the ITR's overseas. The JDM DC 4-1 is a replica of the JDM 4-1 that sells for cheaper. It is made by, DC. The JDM 4-1 hangs lower than stock, but the DC JDM hangs the lowest of all.
Also, does anyone know who makes a skid plate for the stock header on GSR's?

will that header skid plate only work for the JDM ITR header? or do they make them for the JDM DC also?

DC JDM, makes more power but hangs WAY too low. most people usually bust them up or open.
As for clearance on the JDM ITR 4-1, i heard that it doesn't hang any lower than the oil pan.

sweet.. i figured that the 4-1 would sit lower. i remember someone that compared the ground clearance between many headers. does anyone remember what im talking about? there were pictures and everything. the only thing i remember was that the motor was on a stand and the oilpan was on. thanks again guys
here's some more pics of the skid plate since people seem interested in them. i plan on picking one up asap.
also, a pic of how low the JDM 4-1 hangs
as you can see.. it hangs lower than the oil pan.
and one using the stock top heat shield because people want to keep it on the low low.

can't be sure but i dont think they coulda brought out that kind of finish from the stock material without first puttin on some sort of coating on there.

oh, my mistake, i was just going by what i heard. at least it sits higher than DC JDM. my friend had the DC on his 99 integra, dropped on H&R sports and a bolt in the road at night TORE open his header, that thing hangs way too low.

they can polish rims to look like that.. i've seen people get the lip of their rim polished(Rota SS's black with polished lip), so i assume its probably done the same way. does anyone out there know?
peace
