Default Quick question about the ITR retainers

I've been searching but couldnt find the answer. I know that itr valves are lighter than other b-series, now what I am wondering is if ITR retainers are lighter than other b-series also. If so, then by how much? Also if they are lighter then I was thinking that you could use ITR retainers in place of Ti retainers because of the recent stories of Ti retainers getting premature wear. Well anyways, thanks in advance

man, you wont believe the weight difference from a ti retainer and a stock R retainer...let's just say you could EASILY tell which one is ti..but i guess you would have to sacrific that for the long run. hah

cool thanks for the replies, I have one more question. Are the itr retainers unique, in taht they are different from other b-series retainers? Ok I lied, one more question, so if the itr retainers are lighter than other b-series can the itr retainers be used on any b-series motor including the b18b?

What if you are running higher profile cams? Then what? I feel like after the recent posts about Titanium retainers...there is nothing out there to sustain Toda B/C or JUN III profile cams...What else is there to do?

Titanium retainers are a wear item, like brake rotors.

Buy a reputable brand, inspect them every so often and replace as necessary.

There is NO reason to be scared of using titanium retainers.

Well, unless you're using Crower.

Well it is scary though, some show wear as soon as 10k and up to 30k miles. I was just thinking that since the itr retainers havent shown any premature wear or breaking that it might be a better piece of mind using that in conjuction with aftermarket valvetrain. I figure well sure you keep the stock itr retainers and yes it is heavier but maybe you can just cancel the extra weight by using lighter valves. Oh and whats up with the crower retainers?

Apparently, some people have had the Crower retainers fail. I ran Crower's for about 10,000 miles with no problems; maybe I was lucky...?

Man Ti retainer life doesnt seem to promising. I've been following a thread on clubsi and they are currently talking about possibly coating the retainer in nitrade or something like that. Hopefully there will be something to do that will prolong the longevity of the retainer

portflow has a titanium nitride coated retainer but the coating seems to wear off as well...i like the portflow spring\type r retainer combo personally but have also had no probs with the all portflow combo or all skunk combo...IMO dont mix and match aftermarket brands!

I suggest comparing an ITR retainer w/a GSR one...

not all of them.
the B16A automatic should be a different retainer.
The rest are the same.
