Default honda drivers going to domestic like lisa kubo and steph going to rwd. input?

what do you all think about pro honda drivers going over to drive for domestic companies? lisa kubo driving for saturn and also steph driving a rear wheel drive verse the front wheel. well just a question i'm curious to hear answers to.

Well if they are getting paid some good money to do it along with a lot of support then why not.

lisa has worked hard to get where she is now and this is a break that she needed. she will always have love for the honda so will gary kubo but honda wasn't paying the bills. saturn motorsports of san diego is backing her 100% and hope all of her fans will understand and still be loyal to her racing under a different auto maker.

and as far as stephen papadakis, he has a very sweet deal with aem. he has always had backing from day one with the first ever tub fwd car. he has set records and now i wish him the best in the rwd class because there are a lot of people that are fast in that class.

I'm all for it, I'd rather race and spend someone else's money rather than my own. Can't blame them at all.

I agree, good for her, good for steph, if the car is competitive, and they are covering the bills, that is what people at their level need.

i'm going to have to agree with everyone. at least import racers are sticking to the compact racing than going to the big block races . well lisa is a good person. i met her at e-town for the first time this year. even though she had some problems with motor stuff they were all nice enough to say hi and sign a card for me. ver nice. well, i hear a bunch of end talk of domestic guys trying to get into the import world now. lol, now that is funny.

u guys r way too nice. i dont particularly like lisa steppin to the other side but i do respect that shes staying in the sport cause she loves it. what i dont respect is the guys that r drivin RWD platforms that have a FWD orientation from the factory. NHRA stepped up and put an end to the gap between FWD and RWD platforms by splitting classes. i understand y steph and others have stepped to RWD but i will not respect a RWD that was initially a FWD car from the factory. its just gay.

it's not even about bending over for the right amount of money. it is more about living. why bust your *** and be so proud of honda if honda themselves aren't even smart enough to give some of these pro drivers the budget to race on. how many loyal honda drivers are there? tons. but yet honda only gives you parts and a little bit of cash from what i hear. even adam sarawhatever doesn't get a lot from honda from what i hear and that guy is like bling bling at the races. why be so loyal to a company that won't be loyal to you. honda's are great but if you had the chance to drive (which you love doing) a car and get paid.... you wouldn't do it? hard for me to believe........

You must still live at home with your parents?

Besides expensive replacement parts, travel costs, maintenance...you still have to try and make a living between races. Unless you own/operate a shop and have other people work for you, then there's no way you can "race" for a living.

To me, I respect the efforts made by these pioneers to pave the way for up and coming racers. And if they are offered more $$ to go with another car, then so be it. That's their fortune and reward for their experience and contribution to this sport. Who knows, maybe they'll open up a whole new door with Saturn or whatever car they go with. Remember, it wasn't that long ago that everyone thought a Honda will never go 11's...or 10's...much less 8's.

Go out and build a full race car. Start running two or three sanctioning bodies events, be on the road all season long. Oh yeah remember you have no job and then tell me your answer to switching to a domestic compact car again....

Its not all about the $$$ just so u can "bling". Its about the money so you can EAT.

I wish Lisa and Gary all the best, they have both worked very hard to get where there at .

im assuming ur all a bunch of females cause u seem to misconstru things just like a female would. if u direct urself back to the first post it wasnt about staying with honda. it was about staying true to the FWD platform. im all for honda but if someone offered me money id switch to something else. what i WOULDNT SELL OUT on is the FWD from the factory platform or if i drove a RWD FROM THE FACTORY id stick with that. pay attention ladies.

Thanks for your wonderful maturity. I WAS refering to your origional post. The one where you said you have "values". I guess my point to you on bashing the RWD in the FWD platform is.... Go and run your own race team full time for awhile on your own budget. See how broke you are. When a big time sponsor comes along and tells you he wants to build you a car and pay you money to drive .Your not gonna do it ? I dont care if you have values. You have to eat and you have to pay bills . And yes im female ... your point ?

ok lets put it down to this. did anyone say they had to b a racecar driver??? i dont think so its a matter of how u want to live. ill b my own god damn pit crew. i choose to not attempt to become a racecar driver cause fact is, most of them that try to become a "pro" r poor from the sport to begin with. if anyone approached me offering money, id take it, but not if im goin to b on the road for weeks on end. what a shitty existance. o goodie im a pro now, im still poor but i get to travel, never see my family. sounds pretty gay to me. as much as i hate nascar thats where some money is for racers. import racing will have money eventually but fact is most racecar drivers may be able to compete in the pro class doesnt mean they are pros. the female comment wasnt directed at u particularly. just seems as though no one can recognize a point. and for the 100th time i wasnt bashin for swappin from honda it was only because they swapped FWD factory platforms for RWD configuration which i think is chicken ****.

It would be a hard decision to make but im sure after it was all said and done that if i were to leave Honda it would be for a Toyota. I absolutly hope she fails ( well not really her but Saturn) for the simple fact that is is not an import. I know its not a nice thing to say but having being not allowed on the track several days because my car was an import i feel that no domestic car should be allowed in our race series. Nothing sucks worse than trailering a car 60 miles and having to turn around.

Well just to let you know that Lisa Kubo racing is staying within the fwd. we are just going with a pro tube chassis that is all. trust me we have nothing but love for the imports but honda was just not paying the bills. Lisa and Gary had to get a bunch of different companies to pitch in money into the honda just to run with a big budget to make it on the road, to the next event, to have spare parts, and just to eat. now that they have saturn it all works under one big sponsor that will take care of most of all of the bills and whatever else is just extra. so please know that lisa is doing it for the love of racing and to continue to be out at the events. not selling out....

woa. this has turned into a big street fight. people please, it was a simple question, well at least i thought it was. no need to put other people down over this. damn. well pro racers need to eat yes. racing is very very costly yes. no one told them to become pro races yes. but..... racing is a passion for some and just like people that choose to try to make it big in hollywood, pro racers are just trying to live out their dreams. well if they get help or no help i guess.

my thing is with domestic compacts is that they are at an advantage because they have big industry people backing them. but at the same time import companies just need to step up and help this market. honda is too pround to put their name out there in the import drag market it seems like... "it seems like". while gm, chevy, saturn and dodge are all out backing the racers that are willing to back them on the track. so i guess i can't hate them for that. i don't know. you guys have have said some good points.
