Who did there swaps with hand tools?
who the hell needs air tools?!?
i have a 4ft extension!!!!
it is easy for a bakcyard mechanic to use hand tools,
it is easy for a workshop mechanic to use air tool (because they have got experience using the tools)
if you got a compressor for the 1st time, i reckon you will be swearing lots more than if you choose to use hand tools...

for most suspension and brake jobs I just use good old fashison hand tools. I don't plan to use the air tools either when I do my engine swap. I'm just too lazy to power up the tanks and find the fittings for the tools but that's just me

yeah, it is about 1" ID and i picked it up for $0.00 at a junk yard!
it works perfectly, and can seem like a pretty funny excercise for on-lookers when you finally crack the nut

I've done a lot of swaps with just hand tools. But i recently came up on a compressor. And using power tools sure does cut the time in half.
Both swaps with hand tools, hydrolic jack, and a cold, cold cement floor. Used a manly 1/2 drive too. *urgh* *grunt* *ah ah ah aah AH*
Those Mechanix gloves really save your knuckles too. Too bad I didn't buy a pair first!
I look like I've been in a glass knuckle fight. Remeber- pull the wratchet, don't push.
BTW- suspensio work SUCKS
without air tools. I would't wish that on anyone.

No Air tools here, but 3 of my friends helped: 12 inch pipe, 2 foot jack handle, and 8.5 foot street sign. Let me tell you, getting headbolts off with three fingers (and the street sign pole) is a great feeling.
I did it with hand tools, when doing my swap, It was a great reason to buy more tools!!!!!!!!!
I used my NIKE bating gloves, there cheep and work Great

I've done my first swap with Taiwan tools!!! and none of them broke on me!!! Boy was I surprised. I even used a Taiwain ratchet to break bolts loose, even used it to take out the 32 on the hubs.
Thankfully my father is a mechanic and has his own shop across the street from our house. So I have access to an air compressor (w/ about any air tool imaginable), MIG welder, Ace-O2 torches, engine stand, cherry picker, saws, pipe bender, hand tools, grinders, drill press, etc. And he has promised to help with my swap in a couple of months so I am letting him use whatever he wants.

I've done swaps with air tools and without. I find that if you come across a really tight bolt, just talk **** to it, it'll come loose.
