Default will h22 tranny fit h23

Hey does anyone know if the tranny from the prelude vtec will work with the h23 motor.

I have a h23 prelude si motor in my accord and i'm thinking of swapping the tranny for the vtec tranny from the prelude
Thanks

lower gearing(should say too low)=spinning/burn out.

higher gearing=better traction

thats all I can come up w/

Longer gears means that you can stay on the boost longer. Shorter gears means you have to shift earlier....less time to use the boost.

WOW!!! did u read that in Super Street???? shorter gears mean faster acceleration, which mean lower times , but traction can be a bitch.... so i think the idea is that with longer gears, you get less wheelspin and more traction

there was a similarly discussed topic wherin they said the best tranny setup for an h-series would be gears 1 thru 3 from the h22 and 4-5 swapped with those of the h23..so you get quick acceleration and wide open 4 and 5 gears..how hard would this be to do..if the aforementioned is actually true?

Sam, youre a good guy but dont be so quick to jump on this guys ***. He's actually correct, the longer the gear the better for turbo in most cases. A similar issue is all the turbo gsr guys that swap out to the ls trannys for their longer gears. We know the shorter the gear the faster the acceleration, you are correct with that. But with turbo's, you have to spool up as im sure you already know. When you just reach maximum boost on a short geared tranny youll have to change gears, then the turbo will have to spool back up. The longer the gears the longer you can stay at peak boost and not have to worry about shifting. Come down here and ill have my friend take you for a ride in his turbo b18c5, then you'll see why it sucks to have short gears in a boosted car. Anyways, heres a little tranny info for everyone:

the number specified for each gear is equal to the amount of rotations of the engine compared to the output shaft of the tranny. In other words...4.09 first gear= 4.09 revolutuions of the engine per revolution of the tranny output shaft. This is going to give you more power and rev up faster. As you upshift, the gears need to be longer to compensate for the car/wheels moving at a faster rate. The "gear" ratios will determine the rpm loss from upshifts, and the final drive will determine how much faster the gears will rev up.

but it is not neccesarily true about "staying in boost longer" i mean, if you have a big *** turbo and need a lot of time to spool up, then yes, longer gears would be better, but in my case, where as my turbo spools up pretty damn fast, than the H22 tranny will help my acceleration better and be better for me than a H23 tranny

theoretically a h23a tranny would be better for you, end of discussion.
