EK Civic on 18inch rims,offsets>>>
I searched for this topic and couldnt find what i need to know.
I have a 98 EK civic hatchback and am going to fit 18inch alloy wheels.
I have seen many american civics on 18's but not as many UK ones so it is a bit difficult to find info on what offset i need my wheels to be.
Can anyone help?
I was thinking about a 7x18 wheel, with an offset of ET45, wearing a 215/35 tyre, any good?
Will i need to do mods to the car first?
Any help at all would be great!

I think +45 is as good as it can get I don't remember though. You will rub, rolling your fenders might help some but not much.
You will also be flamed and instructed to get 15's or 16's by just about everybody else that responds to this post. But hey, to each his own...

what r you thinking???
can your sohc even roll those around?
If u were over here in the UK u would see that big wheels are the thing to have.
Didnt u guys also have a thing about big rims once?
I never got flamed so much until i found this forum, hehe.
18's will fill my arches, yes, i know they will slow me down but whats the point of putting 15's on anywayz, its not like i will have power then either.
Insurance is far too costly over here to buy performance mods.
Isnt there anyone with 18's over there?

my friend threw on some 18 RH c2 evo's on his GF's 99 ek just for the fun of it and it looked alright, but it did rub a lil bit when he had more than 2 poeople in it..im not sure whats the offset on his rims or anything but they were 18's on a ek
Poor hatch
I had 40+ with 17's and it rubbed on big dips and sharp turns. I was also dropped 2.5" on GC's. +40 or +45 should be fine as any offset in bewteen those #'s.
I don't know why, but I kinda like it. It looks like a little steam roller + you could blind onlookers with those spokes?...

I rolled 18's this past summer on my coupe without any rubbing problems. The car does rub in the front on hard turns. This happens mainly because the car is stashed on coilovers. I regularly traveled between my hometown and my new home which is 400 miles with no problems ever. I also travelled 800 miles to a car show and 800 back with no problems.
I had an 18x7 wheel with a 45 offset. I ran a 215/35/18 Falken fk-451. The fenders in the rear were not rolled but I did have to remove the front fender liners.
On a side not I do think the 18's were a little large for daily driving. They looked **** at shows, but I couldn't be as aggressive as I'd like to because they don't handle as well as a smaller size. I will be going down in size to a 17" for daily driving and stick with my 14s for auto-x.
Hope this helps.
