Default aight check it out.....it's kinda wierd

so i took my car into acura cause my guage cluster......mainly the tach was all screwy. well they tell me that they have to replace the tach and it is under warrenty. so i'm fine. they keep it for a couple days and then i get it back on monday. well i am kinda bored and wanna test out the new tach so i go out, and warn the car up. then i have some fun. i let her rip on some empty roads and then i hit an empty 3 lane strait and decide to take her to the limit (fuel cut-off) but she kep going to 7,400-7,500 rpm. i have an LS and the redline is at 6,900 rpm and fuel cut-off kiks in at like 7,000 rpm. i thought they might have done a half *** job in calibrating it and then when i took it to the end of third gear the fuel cut off at about 86mph. at the usual 7k rpm fuel cut off i usually hit exactly 80 mph. does anyone have any idea what the problem may be??

I hope your not complaining. But I doubt they could have adjusted the fuel cut when changing the guage cluster. Its more likely they diden't calibrate it correctly. Is the idle still arroung 7-800?

It might be a defective tach because they come calibrated from the production line. All the tech has to do is take the old one off and pop the new one on and that's it. You should take it back so the dealer could take care of it.

yep , I've heard they calculate speed by rpms on most tachs, at a certain gear, and etc. I could be wrong, but that might be it...

The tach's get their information from the ECU. HOwever, they are innaccurate.

Your fuel cut off is at 7K Where ever your tach is is the real 7K not what it displays.

Honda's are known for this. Get an aftermarket tach and you will see they can be as far as 1000 RPM's off. The ITR guys hate this big time.
