They are both ys1's. Kinda confusing that way.

If its a LS tranny you got it is a S1 tranny not a Ys1.......
all 92-93 usdm and jdm tegs came with "ys1" trannies. They were mated up to 3 different motors:
-b18a (b18a1 in US): this motor came in rs/ls/gs tegs (different trim names for jdm tegs) and had the long geared ys1 tranny
-b16a: in 92-93 the jdm integra xsi came with a b16a in it. this motor had a short geared ys1 tranny (same gearing as short geared usdm tranny). the only difference here is that the jdm ys1 had optional lsd (so only some came with it)
-b17a: in 92-93 honda put a b17a motor in their usdm GSR. this motor came with the short geared version of the ys1, but lsd was NOT an option.

I was always under the impression that the 90-93 LS tranny was the USDM S1 and the 92-93 GSR tranny was the USDM YS1. There is a JDM S1, seen in the Integra XSi/RSi with the b16. There is also the YS1 that had the optional LSD, as said before.
When I had my 92 GSR I looked up alot of info and I found out then that the LS came as a ys1 also but with longer gears. I can't find the info right now but I always heard it was true. Then again I could (and usually am) wrong.
That was an estimate.. I am not for sure that is just what i was told.. It has no wear on the magnets and the synchros are in perfect condition.. the shop that looked at it for me said it was in perfect condition..sorry for the misunderstanding
