Look for a green stamp to the left and rear of the head

there is suppose to be markings on the exhaust side like a b16 or type r has a pr3 in it, and also what year it was made, like mine says pr3 and it says 95 on it, thats the year the motor was made, look for these markings on the exhaust side, if it says p72 then its a gsr if is says pr3 then u have to look at what year it is, if it say 90 its a b16 because in 1990 their was no type r's out there. just take a good look at the head and look for anymarkings or words.

The USDM 97-98 R's have PR3-3 on the head as well as the b16a. The 00-01 R's have PR3-4 and so do the newer b16a. The gsr has p72 printed on it.

That's not true according to some of the people on H-T.

"PR3-X, the X means nothing. It's the casting number"

I don't know what to believe. My 00 JDM R engine says PR3-3.

My 01 R has PR3-3, I don't think it matters what year it is.

Tuan your head is a GS-R head if you couldn't figure out the responses haha.

it has been posted before

check:

green paint on distributor mounting leg
port work near vavle seats
intake valve stems to see if they are deshroded near the head

there are no p73's anywhere on the head

PR3-X does not tell you if its an ITR head.

it tells that its either a b16 or ITR head.. not JUST ITR like this guy is asking.
