Autotrader?

Local newspaper?

What?

Ive seen EG hatches and coupes go for $500-$3000.Hybrids going for $6500.

People around this area right now are asking $5-$6000. for a stock CX or a stock EX coupe with like 100k miles.

Is it just being in the right place at the right time?Or do states like Ark. sell imports cheaper than other states?

Thanks

Just bought a 93 CX for 1600 bucks. Body is good, needs to be painted, motor is iffy and burning oil, but running, but soon to be swapped anyway, but I would say patience is the main key to finding a deal... I kept seeing 3 grand too, but I wasn't going to spend 3K on a 10 year old car that I was just going to rip the motor out of... Watch autotrader, newspapers, and word of mouth I would say is the BEST! I found mine through word of mouth, and am very grateful, mainly because I had a hatch before that had an untimely demise, and missed it. I know that sounds dumb, but I love these cars.. Not just the hatches, but all of them, and I have been driving a Toyota truck/Ford van for the longest time, till I bought a CRX for 500 bucks and drove that around, but the CRX wasn't as comfortable to me as the hatch, not that it wasn't comfortable but they are different, and it takes getting used to. Anyway, I would say the main key is patience especially if you have something else to drive...

I got my Civic at an Aunction in Rockwall, Texas. 94 Sedan (D16z6). Really wanted an hatch. But damn there to expensive in Texas. Mines was $2200 w/ 173k. But i thought that was a good deal compared to prices in Auto Trader. But i know im getting another motor. And when you really want an car. You dont give a f*ck. You should look into Aunctions. There some nice Civic's that are there. But **** paying 4000-5000 for a High Mileage hatch.

I read my newspapers INTERNET site classifieds, that gave me a few days advantage over people waiting until the ads came out in print in the actual paper.

Plus my winter car I got from asking friends and pretty much anyone I had berely talked to before over and over if they knew anyone with a hatch.. $500 later I'm lovin' life.

I got mine for 1300 but i had quite a few problems. 200K + on broken speedometer/odometer. Cracked windshield and tailight. Crapped out interior, few dings here and there. Got it off Autotrader. First EG I saw and I snapped it up.

Word-o-Mouf

yea my friend told me about a 92-95 si for $900...i do my best and make a thousand. the night before i went to sleep a lil late..had a dream that i stepped into a car with carbon fiber seats. .i was sooo loving that dream. then later in the day, i met up with some friends that took me to buy the car. we didnt get to the destination until 4 hours later..although the place was only 45 mins away. gosh was i really anxious...as we got there i notice a clean *** hatch. body was str8 as hell...it was in the dark with a lil bit of light. i jumped out the car...had to water some plants long drive man. well i looked at it and the car was nice...no front passenger seat/rear seat, no stereo, no license plates. some quater panel damage on the passenger side, couple of screw wholes here and there. popped the hood..lol a cx engine that didnt start! and then i notice something that i never seen before...someone had cut out the vin on the firewall the owner tells me some idiot..the previous owner..tried to do an insurance scam and they never found the car because of no positive id on the vehicle.
the guy that sold me the car, bought the car from a tow yard for $248... ... i bought it for $800. i couldve brought the price waaaaaaaay down..but i didnt know..if i wouldve known i would have saved soo much money!!

all in all...ive got the car to run and look good with seats for less than 30 bucks.

someone buy me a beer!

I bought my first blue 92 Si hatchback for $1000.00 It was missing the front seats and front end body parts along with the engine. I throw in a B16 in it the next day.

The 93 DX hatchback I have right now I bought for $1300. It was an automatic with missed up interior and primered up quarter panel. I bought and throw in a Bseries motor within 1 week of owning the car. It is now 5 speed. I found both cars in the local paper.

I got my CX at Toyota of Plano for $2100.00. 140k miles, does not use oil. It was just brought in as a trade in and was filthy but the motor was clean and is so quiet you can't tell it's running.

Try autotrader... or go to an auction. But the best way to get a cheap car is to know people that are selling theirs. I got my 93 CX Hatch for $2000 off from my ex girlfriends sister. The motor is crap, but it's getting replaced anyways.

Work acquintance - friend

white '92 VX
few scratched and dings. nothing major
dealership did all oil change and work
timing belt & h20 pump replaced 5k before I bought it
$1800

I saw him and just mentioned to let me know when he was ready to sell that car. He replied with, " how much would you give me for it?" He knew I wanted it to turn into a future track car. I thought $2k was fair. He said he was about to buy a new car and to give him a few days. I bought the car 10 days later. The day before I was pick it up, the distributor went out. He took it to the dealership and they wanted $600+ to fix it. I told him to knock $200 off the price and I'd replace the dist. myself. Picked up a used one for $50. Driving it daily ever since.

Found mine in the autotrader. Everytime the new one came out, I'd stop by 7-11 first thing in the morning, and start searching.
