LSD question and Cable tranny question 92 gsr tranny HELP
Hi, I have purchase a LSD. I dont know if its for a hydro or cable tranny. Does it matter? One more question, My tranny makes a loud noise when I drive. It doesnt grind or what so ever. So, is it better replace it or rebuilting it so I can put the LSD ( its fits). HELP!!!!!!!
the lsd may or may not fit, it depends on what car its made for. Some will fit, some won't fit, and some will fit w/ modification to the tranny case (and possible some different gears).
what type of noise is it? I want to say that its the input shaft bearing...but really can't say w/o knowing what the noise sounds like.

All the diffs in the 90-00 b series trannies are the same except the 94-up gsr/type R ring gears have a bolt pattern that is a little closer in than the rest of them. What LSD is it? You can use a 94 gsr diff in the other tranny cases but you will have to get the ring gear that matches the diff.
about the tranny, everytime i excellerate it makes a knocking noise but when I put it in neutral and rev the motor it dont make in noise. Its only when I travel around 10mph and up then it makes noise. You think it could the axles. Cause the same day when my bro replace the axles, thats when its starting making that knocking noise. And about the LSD, I know its for a Interga type R but I was wondering if I can but it in a cable tranny.
It will go in a 92-93 YS1 cable gsr tranny if you use the Type R or GSR 4.40 ratio ring gear. Otherwise the other ring gears won't bolt to it.
So, should I rebuilt the tranny and put the LSD on or just buy a used tranny and put the LSD on. How much to rebuild the tranny and put the LSD in??????
If the syncros are good in your tranny I would just build it. If it is making noise it is most likely the input shaft bearing, which isn't to expensive to replace. If the syncros are shot it will cost you alot in parts and labor to fix them, probably more than a different tranny. Do you have a ring gear that will fit that type R diff? You will need it if you put it in a YS1 gsr tranny. The cost to rebuild a tranny at a tranny shop is usually a ridiculous amount.

So, you think its the input shaft bearings. My car is still driverable but makes the knocking noise. If the syncros was messed up, you wont be able to drive
. How much will it cost to get the 4.40 ring gear?

I think it is the input shaft bearing because that is the most common bearing to go bad in Honda trannies, especially when they make noise. If the syncros were bad then it would grind going into gear, especially noticable when shifting at high rpm. The 4.40 ring gear to fit that ITR LSD will have to be a GSR or Type R gear. You can get them at the dealership for a few hundred or used for cheaper. I sold a GSR 4.40 ring gear a while ago for $20.
