Went to the track and dynoed. Pic video + datalogs

Hey all we finally dyno tuned my car at 180kw (240hp) @ 8500rpm at the wheels on 12psi, on a fully street setup Honda CRX (del sol) using a b16a engine.

Anyway went to the track for the first time and below is the link to the site that hosts pictures videos and Hondata datalogs.

I was using 16” 205 50 16 brigstone 540s R tyres, at a tire pressure of 17psi. The rear tires were my 17” grid 2 tyres at 35psi.

Both run’s were using Hondata launch rpm the

1st launch was at 4000rpm ¼ time 14.3
2nd launch was at 4500 rpm ¼ time 13.8

both launch’s were very bad, we bogged down hardcore as can be seen with the Hondata graph logs

The site with all the pics and videos and datalogs can be found at

http://home.themaestro.net/heathcote/index.htm

Thanks to everyone who’s helped out on my project so far.
Were going to retune this week at 20psi of boost and hit the track on the 26th.

We have to work on our 60ft times and our launch’s
This was the first time ever at the track so its all a learning game now, trial and error. We also had the suspension setup wrong with the car nose in the air, in stead of the back, we will play around with suspension setup also on the 26th.

Feel free to analyse the datalogs and videos and comment, but boy do I love this racing game, just sucks im doing it all the way in Australia and not the US.

1st run
Reaction Time 1.0238
60ft 2.7702
330ft 6.6743
660ft 9.6505
660MPH 84.07
1000ft 12.1775
ET 14.3143
MPH 106.01

2nd run
Reaction Time 0.6538
60ft 2.5125
330ft 6.2988
660ft 9.2527
660MPH 84.84

The problem was we had TO MUCH TRACTION !!! the wheels didn’t spin what so ever !!! not even slightly !!!!!

The rubber was so sticky when we drive on lose surface, the rubber was like dipping icecream into nuts !

All the tires wanted to do was grip.... which suxed !

You're driving an easy 12 second car if you can launch it. Sounds to me like you aren't revving it high enough and are falling out of boost at the start. But still a 2.5 60'!? How in the world do you get that with "to much traction"?

I think that’s exactly what’s happening were not revving high enough, that was my first time every at the track, iv never done anything like that before. On the 26th we will try launching with a higher rpm, you can see on the Hondata logs the rev’s just drop right down once we released the clutch. If you watch the video’s you will see what I mean, and even hear how we just bog down…. Next time were going to try launching at 6000rpm, and see how we go. With double the amount of boost it should decrease our times even more.

too much traction and your trapping 85mph on a 9.6 1/8 mile pass w/2.5+ 60ft? something doesnt add up.

i don't think you were using the hondata rev limiter...It sounds like you were just holding the rpms yourself. I didn't hear the normal 2 step popping sound

Yeah when we launch we don't hold the 2 step for a very long time, because the air fuel ratio is very very lean ! So we just go full throttle just before the lights change.
unfortunately we can’t tune out the leanness when launching full thottle to make it safe without it changing the rest of the maps which is why we don’t hold the 2step for too long.

As for this comment.. care to explain…

too much traction and your trapping 85mph on a 9.6 1/8 mile pass w/2.5+ 60ft? something doesnt add up.

What doesn’t add up… im very new to this ¼ mile game, im assuming we have to much traction because we bog down so much, ( this can be see in the data logs ) we launch and the revs drop then they pickup as the engine pulls the car off the line…

Once you get some more practice you'll be begging for traction!!!!
