Default Sunroof Installation?????

Do any of you know anyone that has installed a sunroof before.....just wondering cause I am looking to buy a 1994 and it doesnt have a sunroof but the guy said he would knock off 500. So I was wondering if there were really any threats with it...I know that some people have told me that they have heard horror stories about it like them leaking a lot when you get them installed at a body shop. Any info would be helpful thanks.

either get a car with a sunroof stock, or do without it.

even if it doesn't leak, the frame will be weakened, as it was not designed for a sunroof, crappy aftermarket sunroofs are easy to break into, and they will eventually brake.

if you really like this car, get it, by all means, but if a sunroof is what you want, then don't get this car.

I agree with samagon. It would also be different if youre considering a sedan versus a coupe. the coupe has a short headliner and requires that the moonroof retract over the exterior of the roof. I believe the sedan retracts its roof in a more traditional way under the roof.

You will either settle for a pop up /completely remove sunroof, or buy one with it included if you are considering it. I'd go spend more money for an LS, or just settle for an RS without the moonroof if the car is in good condidtion.

good luck

if you really want a sunroof just look for another car that has a sunroof.. then you get a car that was designed to have a sunroof, and OEM components so if anything goes wrong, motors, rails, guides, etc.. you can just go to the Acura dealer and order the part plus it'll be power...

my friend had one of those aftermarket sunroofs installed on his base Eclipse and it was pretty ghetto... you either undo the latch/flap (its a latch like on cars w/ rear quarter panel windows that vent/open a little).. you could either undo the latch and open/tilt it a little.. OR you could remove the panel.. and this had to be done when the car was parked/couldn't be done while driving.. pretty ghetto if you ask me...

I'd just find another car w/ an OEM sunroof that way you have a power sunroof.. OEM fit and finish.. and if anything goes wrong (bad motor, leaking seals, bad guides, etc) someone on here has probably encountered the problem and can help you fix it.. or you can just go to the dealer and buy the faulty part..

w/ an aftermarket sunroof.. its up to the shop/installer and manufacturer whether or not to warranty or fix it.. otherwise your SOL w/ a hole/leak in your roof...

just to clarify things the sunroof on the sedan does not retract into the roof... it slides on top just like the coupe
