How many miles are too many
I am looking at a 98 Type R for sale in the Augusta area. I'm not sure how many miles it has yet, but they are asking 14,900. I'll find out tonight how many it has, but how many is too many? I know most Tegs go for 200,000 if taken care of, but I need this car for college.
you are going to use a type R for college? Theives will own you first semester. average mileage is 15k a year from production date is a good estimate. get a civic for college. Only buy the R if you can garage it.
Honda and Too many miles don't go hand in hand
The vast Majority or Honda's perform flawlessly and are especially dependable when comapared to many others even when above 100,000 miles or more.
As for an R with high mileage? I'd stay away, justh the possibility of more abuse and damage as with ANY OTHER sports car...
As for an R as a college car? I'd get a civic and wait for the R till I graduated and had a safe place to keep it. A college campus is NOT safe and definately NOT a good place to park one especialy if you still want it in the parking space you left it.
A.
Depends on the college you are at. Ive had my R at my college for about a year now without any problems *knock on wood*. Could be that where i go to college is in BFE so most people dunno what my car even is.
god some poeple are just way to paranoid. I park my R on the side street of my house everynight. *shrugs* Don't pay insurance to park it in the garage and never drive the damn thing.
98 R... I've seen them go for around 15kish, with about 60k miles on them. Thats usually a good number to stay/start around. Things to look for are modifications, check the ECU harness to see if its been cut, check to see header bolts if they are scratched up, etc, from removing/installing. And other things. Do a compression check if you happen to bring one, too.

I just talked to the guy and he told me it has 82k miles. He said the only engine mod done to it was the Injen Intake he has on it now. It has had 3 owners before him
. One of them added altezza's and neons. He painted the altezzas to look like prelude lights he said. He would go down to 14500 on the price. He has brand new tires(forgot which ones, but they were good ones). Only 1 small scuff on 1 rim and 1 small dent behind a door. No paint missing.
My other choice right now is a stock 99 GSR, black, 47k miles, for only 13,900, which is negotiable. I also had many civic SI's for a little cheaper in mind. I will probably be going to Georgia tech, which is decent about security. It is in the middle of atlanta, but the school is kind of a city of it's own.
Previously I owned a 98 GSR so i wouldn't be missing out on anything if I got another GSR, or would I?

But not that one. Just wait and find a better one. My friend picked up a one owner 97 BONE stock with 95,000 for $12,500. Stock air filter and everything.

I think I am going with battlecat's plan. I'll be plently happy with my GSR for rollin around college, and It will leave me some money left over for whatever I want. Also, air conditioning is always nice in the steamy hot humid south!
Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think 98's even had an option for AC.
