Default coolant resivoir line just popped off?

Hey... got a question for you guys.

I was driving home tonight, going about 80mph...no higher than like 4 psi of boost.

All of a sudden, I smell that wonderful odor of coolant, and a nice white cloud engulfing my engine bay. MY car starts to overheat. I pop my hood, and immediately think its the headgasket...there is coolant everywhere.

UNTIL I notice that my overflow tank is not attached to the radiator anymore! The line that drops into the tank has popped off.

Is it possible that all of my coolant (while trying to go into the resivoir) just spilled everywhere?

I didnt have any coolant with me, nor any tools. I sat in my car from 4am till 8am waiting for a tow. Im reallllllllly cold and so all I did was a compression test. Numbers varied from 190 to 205 or so. Im too cold to do a leakdown test.

Basically, Im asking this to gather if I should worry or not...and if its possible to lose enough coolant through that disconnected hose, that my car overheated. Should I be worried about the headgasket? I just replaced it like 100 miles ago. Brand spanking new.

Im going to bed Im dead tired and my toes are numb.

Thanks in advance,

Sebastian

edit: I didnt mean for it to sound that I am not going to do a leakdown test. Just trying to see if its as simple as that popped off line....

do the leakdown; if it checks out fine, replace the coolant and hose like it was and see if it happens again. Keep in mind, compression, especially with boost, when it leaks into the coolant jacket can pressurize the cooling system enuff to do what you are sayin. I hope you head was perfectly str8 and mating surfaces (deck and head) were perfect when you did the HG.

Mine popped off today too. Just recently replaced my Integra radiator/fan with a civic one for clearance with the turbo. Come to find out my fan doesn't work!

Best thing to do would be to check and see there was no air in there. If you just recently reinstalled your radiator lines.

Good to see you're back on the road though.

Yes everything was swell. Got the head resurfaced.

Mine popped off today too.
did your car overheat and blow smoke everywhere?

when I put the coolnt back in for the first time, all I did was remove that bleed nut thing on the water neck on the top of the head, and filled it up till coolant came out.

is there any other way I should do it?

No, my car didn't overheat or blow smoke. Nor did I actually have enough coolant come out that I smelled it from driving. Hope the leakdown results are alright.
