Default Looks like I'm back in

I keep on having bad luck with turbo Hondas so I decided to sell my hatch and get back into motorcycling.

I found myself a cherry '97 YZF1000R, with only 4700 miles. It should be here in 2 weeks or so, can't wait to be riding again. This bike has always been one of my all-time favorites. I already have a trip to California planned in May.

Nice looking bike!!! Where are you heading in CA? I'm in So Cal, Los Angeles area so let me know if you stop near by. Angeles Crest, GMR, PCH, are some of the nice roads here ...

Congrats, this bike is way underrated, but is well worth it.

Depends what you're contrasting it against. I've never ridden an 'ace, but since I rode my FZR for 2 years, that makes it pretty close. Yes, they're a bit porky if you're contrasting them to an R1, but they also happen to be extremely comfortable for a sportbike and refreshingly firm in the corners. They also handle 2-up really well, have room for cargo if you need it, and plenty of power. All of which, except the power, I've never found an R1 to present.

I really only noticed the weight when I did something stupid, or I had to push it out of a parking lot. In the corners the power and stability hid it's girth.

EXUP Ownz Joo!

Edit: The only reason I'm selling mine is my insurance was out of control.

I've considered the YZF before getting the XX. It is bulkier than the top dogs but you can do some distance on it. What I like about those "slower" bikes is that, well ridden, they can still be amazing tools.

The bike is 506 lbs wet. To me that is alright, I am used to riding big heavy bikes. My last bike was a Bandit 1200, and the one before that was a CBR1100XX.

Besides, I'm not looking to outperform everything on the road anyways. This bike is a good solid bike and I am looking forward to getting it. With all the hyper-bikes out now, this bike will blend into the background, which is what I want. Furthermore, if an R1 rolls up on me, it will probably come down to who is the better rider, I've seen the stats, the 2 perform very closely (the early R1's that is).

It gets here on the 24th, I cant wait

Those YZF-600R's are awesome bikes . A highly skilled rider can do damage to its other 600 counter parts and even bigger cc'd bikes. I found that out at a track day riding in the formula group when I got owned by what I thought was another F4 (because of the race fairings) and turned out to be a YZF-600R!
