question about ground control coilovers
i ordered ground control coilovers from this shop, and i specifically told them that they had to be the "koni yellow edition" ones, and they told their vendor that they get it from that too... but when they came in they were just the regular (ive seen them called the "limited edition") ones. the shop told me i would have to buy an adaptor or something (which would be like $50 more) to make them work with the koni yellows. but i saw online at diabloautosports.com that they specifically have ground controls for the koni yellows (on their page, it says "Limited Edition" for $299 and "Koni Edition" for $329).. and they dont say anythign about this "adaptor" nor have i heard/read anything about it before. do you guys know anything about this? i told the shop just to get my money back and ill buy the GC's from diabloautosports (unless someone can recommend a better/cheaper place). thanks for the advice
ttt. anyone know anything about this "adaptor" or what the difference is between the regular and the koni edition GC's?
i think it's just a replacement insert spacer to fit the oversized koni shock body. i would call G.C. 530.677.8600 and talk to dale. he'll clear it all up and you can buy direct from them i think the price is still $329 for the koni gc kit.

My friend just sold some GC's because he was told they would not work w/ his Koni shocks and that he would have to buy actual Koni-specific sleeves.

just return the kit you have and get the koni kit.

The GCs for Konis should have a different sleeve and have an adapter so you will not use your Koni spring perch anymore. This is how it should look like installed.
hey thanks for the pic, you got any more (such as of the install to help me when im doing mine)? also, one more question. what perch should i use to put the ground controls on? since i have coilovers, therefore they are adjustable, should i put them on the highest perch? or the lowest, or the middle?

just put the perch clips on the stock positions, which would be the top slot in front and the middle slot in back (assuming you have regular koni yellows w/ 2 slots in front and 3 slots in back).

yea that limited edition thing is bs . they are all the same , the one to go over konis have some kind of adapter with em . . you buy thme seperate. My friend had to get em for his ser with AGX's . he needed to get some other piece to fit over thme or something from gc.
Word of advise: Spray bolts down with WD40 or something like that, especially if they are rusty. I didn't and ended up breaking the head off the bolt on my lca. That SUCKED
. We tried everything we could think of to get the bolt out but nothing worked(Sledge hammer, Broke a drillbit twice). Ended up costing me $105 for the New lca and $24 for the new bolt(That's with taxes and shipping because the Acura dealer didn't have it). The fronts went on very easy(I drenched them w/WD40).

just put the clip and the koni perch onto the koni shock, then hold it up next to the stock shock and adjust the clip/koni perch if you need to in order to get it to match the factory perch height. Then remove the koni perch and put on the GC sleeves.

here's everything you have to do:
1) Secure car up onto 4 jackstands and remove the wheels
2) pop the hood remove the 2 bolts (14mm) atop the strut tower in the engine bay
3) move the middle bolt on the strut assembly (14mm) this holds the actual strut to the fork
4) remove the 2 screws that hold in the brake line.
5) remove the bottom screw/nut combo that holds the fork to the "lower control arm"
6) The strut assembly at this time should come out. Might take a little bit of wiggelin, but be sure not to yank on it cuz it could be attached to the brake line somehow or some other wire... just be careful and it'll come right out! Repeate this on the other side
7) on the back, remove the 2 screws on top of the shock strut tower, located beneith the little covers in the trunk/hatch area inside the car.
8) remove the main bolt that holds the shock to the lower control arm
9) i found it easiest to disconnect the upper arm so that the assembly comes out easily.
10) rinse and repeat
i'll get some pics up tomorrow
the GC's wont fit perfectly with KONI or Bilstein so you have to buy the adaptor for them, which usually go for around $40 as you can see at http://tornactive.com/pd_ground.cfm
