Default DSM Injector compatibilty with Non VTEC engines....need help

I have a b20 Non VTEC engine and I installed some DSM 290cc injectors on it. When I first got the injectors and tried to put them on the engine, I noticed that the both the clips from an LS and a CRV engine harness will not fit. Only the VTEC clips will fit, I just got a pair of Eclipse clips and soldered them in. Now that the engine is in I'm trying to start it and whenever it gets under 1000 rpm's it starts running real rich and dies (will not idle under 800 RPM). I have a A/F meter and it starts doing the crazy back and forth stuff after about 1500 RPM, then once it goes lower it starts going straight over to the red and finally until at about 800 RPM it is just sitting on the second to last LED on the rich side. I already have the fuel pressure down to 25 PSI, and I'm afraid if I go lower I might start messing up the spraying pattern of the injectors. So could it be that VTEC injectors and Non VTEC injectors work a little differently, since they have different style plugs?
