Default this might be a stupid ? but how hard to rebuild a hydro locked H22a

a friend of mine has two H22As and one is hydro locked and i forgot what is the matter with the other but he told me to make an offer and he would take what ever i could get him so i would like to know how much it would cost to rebulid the hydro locked one if it can be rebuilt. And this motor would be going in a 97 civic ex i already have the motor mounts and can get a tranny and other parts thanks for letting me know

needs to be ripped down and see to what extent the damage is.. if it spun mains or rod bearings and so on..
if it spun mains its not worth it. rod bearings u get a new crank or have that one fixed.. probably messed up the sleeves but if your building it u have to resleeve anyway.. check out the valve train too. if the cam towers cant be refurbished the head will be garbage. u cant interchange cam towers..

if you can do some of the work, then it's a worth a try to buy both motor. if anything, you can always sell the parts off to make your money back.

but a hydrolocked motor can have anything from just some seals, bearings needing to be replaced or virtually every part.

if a shop does it, a complete longblock from a salvage yard would be a better option.
