Default Exhaust repacking

Two Brothers: Do they need repacking?

Also, my father just acquired a 1985 BMW K100 RS sport bike w/ an after market Lufmeister canister exhaust. Does anyone know if you can repack these types? Muffler is "REALLY" loud or is that normal for this kind of bike and exhaust pipe?

TwoBros exhaust canisters do periodically need repacking...I think Twobros sells a kit for it, or you can go to a local shop, get some exhaust packing, and DIY. I've never heard of Lufmeister, not being too much into BMWs...

If I decided to DIY, how easy is this? Are there any previous clips on how to do this? Is it difficult to do, worth doing or just getting a new system? Bike is 8 yrs old, Two Bros about 6 yrs old.

Depends how mechanically inclined you are. I think there's a how-to at Two-Bros about it. Basically you drill out the rivots that hold the end plate on, pull the baffles out, re-wrap it with the new packing, slide it back in, and re-rivot it. Usually the kits come with the correct rivots and everything, so you don't need to buy any consumables, you just need a drill and hand rivoter.

If you want it to be quieter, then it's worth doing (especially after 6 years). You're not going to see performance gains out of it or anything though.

If it's smote up, I'd probably just replace it. Even if it's a full system, you can just replace the canister.
