Kyb agx's suck!
On friday i put a brand new set of agx's in my hatch along with some gc's. After experimenting with the different settings i chose to keep the shocks at 2 up front and 4 in the rear. After a boring friday night i wake up to see a puddle of fluid underneath my right rear shock. WTF! After one day I blew a shock. These shocks suck.
I know the shocks have a warranty and the warranty is void when you slam your car more than 1.5 inches. I also know that they can determine how low you had your car by looking at the piston rod. My car is slammed about 2.5 inches in the back. Will they still be able to determine how low the car was since i have only had the shocks in for a day? I honestly think i got a defective shock. One day and already a blown shock. **** this sucks.

Seems like you screwed your self if it says dont slam over 1.5 then theres a reason, i have AGX's i havent had a problem but mine isnt slamed either. But i can say this, if you jack up the front end, to say change a tire, or even higher to get both wheels off the ground(one the same side) to change both wheels, the other side will be slamed, use that as a reason why theres marks on the piston shaft.
if you dont mind me asking HondaGSR, are you on the AGX/GC setup as well? if so, how much are you lowered (specifically how many threads)? i was told that appr. 4 in the front and 5 in the rear puts you down about 1.5 inches. i am installing the same setup and was curious. and kidd101...sorry to hear about that...let us know if they will warranty and replace it. i kinda wanted to slam mine for a few days just for fun and pics...but now i am a little freaked out.
No i dont mind you asking, I used to have a cheap set of coil overs but they bounced to much, sold them because the spring rate was to soft. So i got a set of Progessive springs. Have no problems at all now. i wasnt trying to be an *** so i hope i wasnt taken that way!!
they don;'t suck just cause you had a problem with one shock. Out of the thousands of sets that they sell, this is the first time of me hearing that someone blew one soon after installation
I've had mine slammed for 2 years with them and I love em. 120 shipped for the front 2 brand new off ebay 2 years ago

so, if im looking to slam my car, what kind of strut's should i buy (for over 2.5 inches) and still not worry about nice little puddles?
Well one problem is you have to set the shocks low after installation so they can get worn a little, I was told setting them at 4 right after isn't good and that they will last longer if you let them wear a little. But you won't be able to use your warranty, it's voided after I think a 1.5 in. drop... I just installed KYB's with H&R Race Springs (2.75 front and 2.5 rear) haven't had a chance to drive around on them, but I've ridden in the same setup and they worked great! My 2 cents

I've have kyb agx, running at 4 all around, all the time, except long trips, and with neuspeed race spring, 2.25" drop, never had a problem, the car is very stiff.
You probably had 1 diffective shock, they'll exchange it for you!!! If not, learn how to bitch, it always good to be nice, but when nothing happens, bitch!!!

i have kyb agx's i had them on my car for about 3 weeks no problem, i even paired them up with 1000 lbs springs rates for the rear for a couple days and not one problem, i was scared i would blow em but they held up. right now i have the agx's up front but i took out the rears tell i get a softer spring rate.
Used KYB's with Matrix coilovers all year for autox. There awesome, as a matter of fact I could afford some GC's with Koni Yellows but I cant see spending the extra dough for what might be a better set-up.
well that sucks for you dude but i have had my KYB agx for almost a year and no problems here the only thing that sucks in when they are lowered below 1.5inchs they do not responed properlly
it was that low up untill aug. now it sets about 1/2 inch lower

dude, dont you scrape sitting that low? my spoons sit me about that low and i scrape in the front no prob in the rear and im about your drop, maybe a lil higher ..i cant turn all the way otherwise i hear a scraping sound.. what about you?
i had mine for 1 yr, for the hell of it, i slammed the GC's all the way to the last rungs. drove around like that for a week. no dmg. i am positive u got a defective shock.

Koni Yellows
Koni Yellows
Koni's dont like to be much lower than stock , if you want to "slam" it you need to get them shortened so you retain full suspension travel.

that is completely wrong.

20mm shorter shock body and 5 spring perch setting all around. very nice setup.

Yeah you must have gotten a defective shock, becuase my car is slammed 2in all the way around with kyb agx's and skunk2 c/o and I have not had one problem at all. The roads around my house are not even that could, and I have hit some nasty pot holes late at night and have yet to scrape or bottom out.

still not going to be optimal for a large drop , 20mm isnt that much shorter....

's his kyb agx
