I've heard of some kits for rebuilding your tranny...something along the lines of the whole gear sets? Anyone know where I can info on this? My tranny is in need of a new 3rd gear..

the only way you'll find out what you need to replace, its when you take your tranny apart. you might just need synchros, and not the actual gear!

3rd gear synchros...ever since I bought the tranny it has had a high rpm scratch...and over the months it just grew from there, now scratches all the time and sometimes can't even get it in..

gotta be careful about assuming its just the syncros, your best bet is the honda kit as you originally stated, that will come with everything needed not jsut syncro.

I got the same problem,when switching from 2nd to 3rd at 8k rpms it grinds.Any other gears is ok and only at high rpm's.A buddy of mine says he had a rebuilt 96gsr tranny with 0 miles for 600bux.Is this a good deal or no?

How much could i sell my gsr tranny with a grind from 3rd-4th.So i can sell mine and get this one.

 

I've seen most used GSR trannys go for 300-700 depending on condition.

 

this is what my friend told me,i guess its not completely rebuilt:

the gsr tranny is in good shape. im not shure how many miles were on it but i had it rebuilt and 2nd and 3rd sycro sets were replaced along with fresh seals recently. the tranny has had 0 miles on it since the rebuild.
96 gsr is what i came out of.
