Default Street tire challenge??

I noticed that there has been alot of talk about street tire Hondas lately, not only on H-T but even people in my same area. This has got me thinking. I have been trying to sell my car for a while strictly because I lost intrest in the world of FWD's. I have had no luck selling the car or even the motor. So...with all this talk about street tire Hondas, it makes me want to keep my car and smote my old best time on radials. So what I want to do is set a goal for me and others to meet to make things interesting and give me a reason to keep the car. The goal, 11.50 or better on RADIAL tires. BFG, Nitto, ect. Keep in mind this is just a freindly challenge meant mainly to get me to keep my car. Let me know what you guys think about this idea and if anyone else is up to the challenge.

Well I am in Indiana, not sure where everyone else is. It would probly have to be an over the internet challenge unless there was somewhere centralized to do it so everyone could attend. I am willing to travel though.

I'm down to challenge you on street tires. Is this just an open challenge where you post slips and video of street tires?? it would be hard to gather up people around the country to run for nothing more than a HT title.

I don't care what the reason is personally, I just want a goal to shoot for and a little competition helps motivate me I guess. With all that I've been reading I thought there would be alot more interest than this. If anyone has any other ideas feel free to throw them in.

i dont know how much per car .. so far only 2 cars are interested

seems like more people like the idea of street tire racing, but none think they are competitive ?

not all of us get the nice florida weather year round so. the halloween date for us basically gives us the whole season to test and test. and it gives some good competition. say we set the 11.6 mark u've got some time to smote it.. then you set the 11.5 mark, then weve got time to smote it. u know what i mean ?

seems fun

if only two cars are interested a pool might not be too fun

11's takes alot of money and hard work. and pretty much 2003 just started. the season will start in a couple month. hopefully i can say low 12's on street tires.

i'm down! hell yeah, sounds tight......
but guys that is a very hard number to get to on street tires. i am almost sure motormatrix can do it but for the non-shop crowd it will be hard. i'll put it like this..........to run 11.5 on street tires or radials, you would have to run 10.5 or better on slicks! in a hatch not too tuff, but in a heavier car that is a huge mountain to climb.

On the 11.8 run my car was very badly tuned, on pump gas and 17psi of boost. The car went 12.0 @ 130 earlier last year on good gas spinning past the 1000' mark. I have enough things to change that I am fully confident I can run 11.50 or better on 225 BFG tires. If there are only a few cars really interested, it would make it easier to meet up and battle it out.

Lets meet up at gainesville for the nhra races that are in a couple months. Thats kind of in the middle. I'm definitely down for it but I'm not going to drive 1000 miles. I'll post up once I make a clean pass on the radials.

We will be there in april for sure with our race car. Hopefully my street car will be there too. I would love to battle it out with you jason. We could put on a nice street car showdown.

I know,I cant wait till the season starts, I am bored big time, but I think the crx will be trying for the street tire challenge, if I have time to play I would love to just crack into the 11's with it on radials. I went 12.6 on a bone stock b16 with 60 shot 4 years ago, on michelin's that was fun, I never tried running the rex at the track turbo on street tires. I think I will put a tock b16 back in when the coupe is done, less torque should help with the traction issue. Jason

I might try to make it to one or both of those races. Only problem is, my car isn't cage as of now. I'd hate to go that for for a race just to get kicked off. Maybe I'll run into some money soon so I can finally make the car track legal.

make sure the car is legal that would suck, or tap the brakes hard up top I bet your car will hit 135 with ease on slicks, so you will be sol, at a nhra track. But eton is in may it is probaly closer to your way, and gives you more time to get a cage done and certified.Jason

how bout an all honda/acura day at a hillbilly track that preps decent. so that we can bring cars without a cage.

i think the allmotor guys should have a seperate challenge.. between themselves. I cant see them having the same traction problems as the Big Power Turbo Guys. 900' burnouts down a track doesnt normally happen in a all motor car.

How about an all motor class, Turbo street tire class, and 2 different bracket racing. What if we threw in an autoX too? Hmmm? sound too good to be true? Again, wait for the details......
