Default increasing displacement?

i read earlier that a b16 can be upped to a displacement of 1.8L? what is the correct term for this? how is it done? and how much? i searched but didn't know what the correct term was lol.

now for my real question, since this can be done in a b16, what about for d16? is this a common job for sohc vtec owners? what benefits/gains/disadvantages comes with upping the displacement? TIA

Sleeving the B16 to 84mm would give you a 1.7L. If you want a 1.8, you'll probably need a stroker kit. I doubt anyone would want to do that kind of work to a D-series cuz the cost will be more than a B-series and way less effective.

As stated earlier, you can either stroke it or increase the bore.

A few companies offer a stroker kit, but they're expensive.

Increasing the bore would probably be a better option. I think I remember reading that the max possible bore on a B-series is around 87-89 mm (not sure, though).

As far as a D-series is concerned; it depends on your plans for it and how much you want to put into it.

Benefits include increased torque and if you bore it out the new sleeves will (or should) be stronger. A disadvantage is cost and the possible change in the R/S ratio.

There's more, but that's the main stuff. HTH.

If you bore a D16 to 77mm, you should get about 1.7L. Crower makes a stroker kit for the b16 and b18.
