Steering response question
I recently switched from Tanabe springs that lowered 1.5" to Neuspeed Race that lowers about 2.5" I just got my alignment done and the toe and caster are within factory specs, but I'm running about -2.5 degrees of neg camber in the front and about -2.0 degrees of neg camber in the rear (no camber kit obviously). The steering response is a tad bit looser with the Neuspeeds than it was before with the Tanabe springs...is this normal? The car also feels different now, kind of like it's less grippy under hard cornering even though I'm able to take turns just as fast as before...is it because I'm not use to driving with the lower stance or is it because the lower stance is actually screwing up the handling characteristics of the car? Any feedback is greatly appreciated...thanks.
remember camber is good in moderation, too much will make the car unstable and feel uneasy. i have a pretty good feeling thats why it feels like turns arent as stable. try gettin a camber kit and reducing some of that camber....also do you have new shocks cause if not that is also a possibility why its not due to how compressed and how weak the valving is on stock shocks.
Thanks for the help! Could the loose steering also be attributed to the negative camber? As for the shocks, I have Konis that I just got at the end of the summer so they're new. Also, is there anything I can do to tighten up the steering?
yea too much neg. camber, you'll lose traction. since not all of the contact patch of the tire is sitting flat on the ground. try getting a camber kit.
