i heard that there was supposed to be a difference in the spline count on the 88's compared to the 89-91. i currently have 88 axles, and they fit perfectly into an 89dx trans. if there was a difference, wouldnt the axle not be able to fit period?? because my friend is telling me that the axle will fit regardless of the different spline count and will just strip. 411 please. thanks

 

i think the splines on the axles are the same. but the spline on the mainshaft of the trani differs and same with the motor.

88-89's were 19
90-91's were 20

i think thats how it goes
i know 90-91's are 20.

 

tranny input shfat splines are

88 21 spline
89+ 20 spline. correct me if im wrong
