Err-3 on radio of new '97 accord....Please help.
Ok so I just got home from buying my fiance a nice new '97 accord. It's anice little two door and we got it for what I think is a good deal ($9,500 w/67k miles)....Anyway the radio is not working and says "ERR-3" on the display. I checked the owners manual that we got with the car and it says that it is a problem with the CD changer...well the car doesn't have a CD changer.
Anyone have any thoughts on how to fix this? I have an appointment setup with the dealer to get it fixed but have little faith cause we bought the car from a chevy dealer, and obviously it's not a chevy.
Thanks in advance,
mike D

hey mike does the err-3 stay on for more then a few secound if it does then , the dealer will have to fix it if it goes away with in a few secound then it's o.k
Stays on the entire time! WIll not go out and then will not allow the radio to work at all.
I did a search or three last night and all I could find was stuff about the security code....Could that be the problem?
Is it going to be cheaper to get this fixed by putting an aftermarket unit in or should the dealer I bought it from take care of the problem??
Thanks again for the help!

o.k i'm not sure if the "stealer" gave you the radio code , but i dont think they did. You may want to check the owners manual and see if the previuse owner wrote it down in there . If you have the code then open the hood, go to the passenger side next to the windshield, you will see a black box that is one of the few fuse box's there is in the car . open it take the radio fuse out for 3 secounds then put it back in . then use the 5 diget code and punch it in . the code the radio was throwing err-3 should go away and the radio should play.........
if you dont have the code or cant find it , just take it back to the dealer and they should fix it, free of charge. just be ready to spend time at the "stealer", because they will take there sweet as time because they can, and because they have to take the radio out and call honda "stealer" for the code. the radio has a serial number on it , that serial number has a helps the honda "stealer" find the code for you.

Thanks man....Thats what I was thinking. I'll look through the manuals again when she get home with the car, otherwise I guess she'll have to deal with no radio until next saturday when we can take the car over and have it fixed.
Thanks again for all the help....I'll be around more often now that I actually have a honda car to take care of.
