Just finished rotor/pad install- Is this normal?
I just got finished with installing my Carbotech Premium OE Rotor/Axxis Ultimate combo. The job seemed to got smoothly (no parts left over, no bad noises, brakes work), but I didn't bleed them yet. The brakes work, but the pedal is mushy and the stopping power is fairly poor. Is this normal? I know I should bleed the brakes but why is that necessary after this job? I didn't open the lines or anything. Can someone elaborate?
You shouldn't have to bleed the brakes unless you opened the line (ie taking off a brake line or taking off the caliper or something) but if your fluid is really old it is possible air has gotten into the lines so go ahead and bleed them anyway.
That's what I thought but the pedal seems to indicate they need to be bled (the pedal was fine with the pads I just took out). Anyone else?
my rule of thumb is the bleed the brakes anytime you do brake work... doesnt take that long... just bleed them and get back to us
