Heat Shielding for my CF hood? DSM's have it stock......
Heya everyone....
I'm looking for something I can use to shield the heat from my carbon fiber hood.....DSM's have some kind of stuff under the hood stock, I'm wondering where I can get something like that? Or do I even need to worry (will carbon fiber stand up to the heat from the turbo?).....what are you guys and gals using?
Thanks!!!!
Brian

The CF should be able to withstand the temp. The resin and gel coat we use is rated for 5,000 degree temp. I run a CF hood on my car without any problems. Also my hood is vented. I did have a OEM one in the past and that held up fine. I am not sure what kind of hood you have, but if good quality materials are being used then great.
i think my cf hood is being affected by heat. I live in AZ during the summer and i noticed that the resin isn't that smooth any more. It's nothing too noticeable unless you're me. It's a fiber images hood. it's not engine bay heat because i only have bolt ons right now.

It's a VIS Extreme GT style hood.......so you think it'll take the turbo heat fine? There are 2 big vents right above the front of the valve cover, so those should help too I'd think?
Thanks!!!
