Wheels stolen with extended wheel studs...
couldnt you just machine off the top of a gorilla wheel lock? if the top wasnt on it, that would allow the stud to pass through it.
I think he means the opposite - how do you keep the wheels from getting stolen if you can't use locks. Machining off the lock solves nothing in that respect.
i know what he meant. i was just saying he could machine off the top of a gorill lock(or something similar) to allow the longer wheel stud to pass through as you tighten it down.
I am using the center caps that came with my aftermarket wheels. They have locking screws, but that is not much protection against theft. I had to drill holes in the caps for the studs to fit in. You could use those wheel locks that have a special socket that fits the outside of the nut, and modify the key(socket) to fit over the stud. Maybe someone with a machine shop could design and market special wheel locks for those of us with extended wheel studs on our street driven cars?
I think I am going to machine some new lug nuts for my studs......we dont get much love for the extended studs in safety lug nuts.
