Key Lock Cylinder
alright I have a problem here.
my key lock cylinder had to be replaced. In my haynes manual it say to switch the key to the "1" position, push the pin on top, and pull out the lock cylinder. I did that and the lock cylinder came out fine, although I can't figure out how to put the new one in. The manual says to puut the ket at "0" then slide it in just a little, then put it just before the "1", slide it in until the pin reaches the body, then turn the key to "1" and slide it in the rest of the way. although for some reason I can't get it to slide in the rest of the way, when I tried it to see if it was in all the way, the pindidn't line up to the hole where it should lock in and the key was able to turn to the "3" (start) position and it would stay there, the key would move freely.
anyways, after about 5 mins of trying this my dad comes out and says to just put it in the "0" position and push the lock cylinder in. I did that, and the lock cylinder slid in farther than before, but now my key wont turn at all and I cant get the lock cylinder back out. the pin isnt even in the hole where it locks so I have no idea whats holding the lock cylinder.
anybody know how to get this out and how to put it back in the right way??
sorry for the long post, but I thought i'd include it all so that you know whats going on
thanks

i recently took mine apart and spent 2 weekends trying to get it back together. i was following the same instructions too. what happend to me was in the body theres a little spot before the hole that is supposed to compress the pin so it slide in and enter the hole. well the pin would just stop for me every time and it was putting marks inside the body sorta gouging it all up. finally i took a small drill bit and drilled a hole a few millimeters before the hole for the pin so when the pin got to that hole i could compress it. then the cylinder went all the way in. sorry if this is confusing. as far as your cylinder being stuck. put the key in and try pulling it out. maybe you need to compress the steering lock pin on the body.
