i have an h23a1 (m2s4-5) transmission on my f22b2. It got me 3/10ths faster in the 1/4 mile with the shorter gearing, and it definitly makes the accord more fun to drive.

How much did that tranny run you? Im in need of a new tranny for my f22b2 since my 5th gear synchro bites and my clutch is going out.

the h23 tranny would be nice for the f22, but not for boosting or lots of highway driving.

FD on the m2s4-5 is 4.26

i got it for $250 from a local used parts depot, it was off of a 1996 Prelude with 30,000 miles.

Thats really interesting. I thought i got the **** end of the stick when i found out about my 5th gear grindage right after i bought my accord. But it sounds like the process to fix this defective part would be more costly than, say, paying the 250 some odd dollars to go and pick up an h23.

will using a H23 tranny take away from the benefits of a turbo? sorta like the short gear ratio or the H23 though.

sorry guys, kinda off topic, but what do guys think is the best tranny to mate to my f22b2 for best 1320 times? im also guessing that 1320 times and regular highway driving dont mix to well, can somebody confirm this. thanks.

if i'm not mistaken, it's the shorter gears in the h23 thats not best for boost. It's not that the tranny is bad itself just that with the shorter gears you wont be in boost for so long which makes it kind of useless to go turbo. The f22 tranny has longer gears ( i think thats the term, or taller ) hence more time in boost which means more time your happy.

1320 times are kind of diff from when driving on the highway. The best tranny for what you plan on doing would have to be up to you. If you plan on boosting your car and do alot of hwy driving then i would guess the f22's would work better, but just for the track i would take the h23's as 94accord did ( BTW .. thats great how you got 3/10's off your time with a tranny change on that ).

either way... a SEARCH would be your best decision ( sp )...

i have one more question for you guys. i did a search and didnt find the asnwer. is the h23 tranny a straight swap onto the f22 block, or do you have to remount brackets and stuff?

also, accord94dx, you say the h23 tranney got you 3/10s off, how good of a driver are you? good, or just average like me?

Straight swap, no surprises, use the h23a1 VSS and just loop the input/output for the speed sensitive power steering unit, nothing big.

I suck at drag racing, my best 60' was a 2.26 on street tires. It was all tranny.
