plz help - TEG NEWB HERE - crave all info
hey wats up all - used to be a civic hatch man but when my parents saw how small the car is they said no. so now i dream of integras and i need info. everything i know abuot imports stems from my research about my dream hatch. plz help me - questions:
a. models: is there a dx,cx,vx integra or is there only a gsr and a "normal" (and type -r)?
b. what does the gsr model have goin for it over the "normal model" (if there is one)
c. what are the year groupings (93-95,95-98,?)
d. and which one, in ur opinion is best
e. what is the stock engine on a teg? (gsr, ?normal?)
thanx for the info
-hopefully new teg owner soon
edit:
one more thing:
ive seen some integras without the "four eyes" headlights (which i really like), which models dont/do have this or have they just changed out their headlights

I will try to help you. During the time I take to type this up, I'm sure there will be other responses here. Most of which will be to the effect of "do a search."
Anywho....
A: There are several model trims of Integras. I don't know the exact year changeover, but I will try my best. There is the RS, LS, GS, SE, GSR, and Type R. Overseas there are other types, such as the SiR-G, and whatnot, but they are basically the same, just a different name. Then of course, everything except the Type R is available as a 4-door sedan as well.
The RS, LS, and GS all have what people refer to as the "LS" motor, or the B18B1 motor. It is a non-vtec. They area also different with options. These aren't all of them, but just as an example, the GS will have a spoiler, alloy wheels, leather, etc.
I believe after 1998, the only models available were the GS, GSR, and the Type R.
B: The GSR has a B18C1 motor which has VTEC. The compression is slightly higher as well as some other things which bring the hp to 170.
C: By year groupings, I assume you mean the body style changes. Right before the RSX, there were 3 generations of Integras. I'm not too sure of the year exactly, but I know for sure that the G3 ones started at 1994 and ended at 2001. Within those years, there was a slight body change between the 94-97 models and the 98's and up.
D: Of course everyone would say the Integra Type R is the best. But it also depends on what you want to do with it. The ITR is a great road race car, but with it's high compression, it would be hard to reliably turbo/supercharge it. If you look in the forced induction forum, you'll learn a lot more about that...as well as the Integra Type R forum.
E: Stock engine on an Integra is the B18B1 (RS, LS, and GS). B18C1 (GSR), and B18C5 (Type R).
The four headlight thing you're talking about is on all Integra models in the USA from 1994 and up. You can do a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) conversion to make it a one piece. It's quite pricey if you want it done right. Search for "JDM conversion" if you want more info on that.
Hope I've been of some help.

yea i tried searching - didnt get very far since i need a broad range of info - no specifics
thanx alot shamoo that helps alot
im thinkin gsr since id like vtec and id eventually like to turbo it so is this a good choice?
is there any need to swap the engine, and if so what would you swap to?
on more:
avg price for a 95,96,97 gsr in relatively good condition?

gsr is a good choice to turbo...but maybe involves a little bit more tuning to have a good running reliable turbo system
the LS with its lower comp. will be an easier motor to turbo reliabily
both will gain u good hp numbers with a turbo, and both require as do all motors TUNING
avg price depends on miles....but i wouldent expect to pay less than 8k for a 100mi gsr
