Ok, this is the deal, 95 D16Z6, I have a code 23 (I think that was the #) For H02S (O2 Sensor) So the aftermarket (not stock) O2 sensor I have may be gone... but the distributor cap/rotor look ok.

When at partial throttle in any gear, only at lower rpm, like 2-3K, if I give it some gas, it goes and gives a little sputter a couple times until/unless I put the gas down (basically raise the rpm) the sputtering stops and the car accelerates briskly.

EgI: Pulling off in 1st, calmly... the engine purrs, engaging clutch, intially car will start to sputter/hesitate, but if I give it more gas... the sputter stops.

EgII: If I were crusing along at say 40 and I put it in 5th and give it a little gas, the engine will sputter some until I get higher in the rpm band.

Any one have this problem ? Any diagnosis' ?

The plug wires are Accell POS... I need some stockers.... the plugs are pretty new.

Sounds like either the coil, distributor, or both.

try replacing the O2, do you have 1 or 2 O2 sensors?

 

just 1.... I am OBDI blessed....heh heh...
