He claims the compressor wheel scrapes and that it has metal shavings in it. I started to file a insurance claim w/ the PO but is this damage likely to be covered? It seems to me that maybe it was dropped on on end of the box, maybe disorienting the housing, but how likely is that and will I be liable (to fraud charges)if he damaged it himself?

Basically should I:

-refuse a refund

-complete the claim

-pay him out of pocket (costing me $200 for the turbo & s/h)

It also took a long time to get to him. It took over a week with priority mail. I sold it on ebay and will probably get negative feedback for something I had no control over.

Did the box look damaged? They would have to drop it pretty badly for the shaft to get out of spec enough to scorr the housing, especially if you packed it pretty well. If not, it might be hard to file damages- but it's certainly worth a try.

 

the best thing to do is to refuse the shipment if a box is all torn up or to at least take pictures of it.

if you previously used the turbo and you knew it was in good condition and you're getting screwed by the post office i wouldn't refund the money. you're not a business and have no obligation too, even on ebay. that's why they recommend iescrow for costly items.

this is of course if you're truly being sincere about the condition which i'm sure you are.

 

I am, I don't know if he is.

I'll turn in the paper work. If he is at fault, the post office can mess w/ it.
