I wouldnt give you more than $3500, cuz who knows what the motor has been through----but don't worry you can definitely find a schmuck to pay $4500 for it---good luck in selling.

actually, if u find a little vtec-horny teenage kid spending mommy's money u could possibly get $5500----my boy sold a rusty b16 beater for that price--- it was mechanically sound but not pretty.

remember you can always go down but never up...Like most people here that talk about buying cars say if they ask for 4000 you can probably get them down to 3200-3500...So start at a high/reasonable price and who knows some ho may think they got a sweet deal after they work you down to 4500 when thats all you wanted in the first place.

B16a 5 Series (<U>170hp</U>) w/ Y1 Tranny
You better do a little more research or your perspective buyer is going to think you don't know what you're talking about.

160 hp
I've seen some stock b16's do greater than 165 at the flywheel...
So 170hp is accurate more oft than not

umm... you guys that are saying 170hp isn't real are retarded. some of the last obd0 b16a's that honda made do have 170hp just like the Sir2 obd1 motor. don't tell him to do his research when it's obvious he has, and you don't know what you're talking about.

That sounds like a pretty good price. Like others said, I'm sure you could find someone to buy it for that

I'd like to clear the air about a few things with nicknames, terms, n' such, that are given to the B16A engine. There are basically two types of B16A's, that I like to refer to as Cable & Hydro. 'Cable and Hydro' represent the type of transmission, that came on a particular year-group of a B16A engines. Not only does the tranny determine the year of a B16A engine (when being purchased, used, as a whole), but in other ways too. Some people like to refer to B16A's as either '1-SERIES' or '5-SERIES'. Which means the person is looking at the first letter on the 'ID stamp', right below the 'B16A' stamp on the front side of the block....
There's this myth going around (in my habitat and on the net'!) that ALL 5-SERIES put out more power than a 1-SERIES, which is not true for Cable-B16's. It is however, true for the Hydro-B16 engines since all of those are 5-SERIES. Hydro-B16's put out 10 more ponies than the previous years. This really really annoys the hell outta me because I've found this to be a defective way in determining B16's apart from each other! You can tell anyone that 'Hey, I gotta 5 series under my hood'' when in actuality it's no different than a 1-SERIES (as far as cable type go)! Using that terminology can throw people off when getting specnical. So, if you wanna follow in my steps, call the older B16's cable type and the newer B16's hydro type!!!!!!!! There's a 10hp difference between the two for pete's sake!.......thanks..

Okay i'd like to clear a few more things up....

1st gen-started production in 1989... went to 1991... a few rare obd-0 have 2nd gen longblock...very rare mind you, more often found in the european market
ALL cable tranny... Y1 J1 S1 etc
the "story" behind 1 million series and 5 million series is that 5 million is faster
the truth.... is 5 million came out of an SiR, different intake manafold, doesnt have cold idle boost to help with cold start and a few other small things
as shown below

now look at the 5 million series

Ive even heard people say that its for automatic trannies and other such garage... the fact is, even the 90-91 integras in the US market with B18A motors have the same vacuum boost **** for "easy" start and the cold idle vaccum ****
Look it up in a helms manuel, it explains it

Now moving on to 2nd gen always has hydro

looking at the 92-93 XSi and RSi in japan, you will find that it is OBD-1, with a PR3 OBD-1 ECU with a 2nd gen longblock, P30 intake manafold, P30 pistons, PR3-4 head etc etc etc, and the 92-93 has the YS1 Cable tranny

In end....
His motor from the factory is rated at 160hp unless he was REAAAAAALY lucky and got a 2nd gen obd-0 motor which i highly doubt esp. since he bought it from HMO and HMO gets his motors from japan or hong kong, not so much european motors, which is where they are most commonly found.
