my car recently got stolen/recovered...it's in the shop getting new seats and a new alarm put in. i'm getting a Viper 550 alarm w/ remote start put in for about $300. i was just wondering if anyone had any good or bad experiences with remote start alarms or the Viper 550 alarm. I'm getting a good deal on it. And i don't want to come short when it comes to security. i guess i can't leave on gear anymore. Thanks in Advance.

 

An alarm is an alarm, its all in the install. Do you have motion/proximity sensors and a back-up battery?

 

I got a 550, I like it, it's not too expensive, it has served me well, but I also put a bunch of other stuff on it(prox, merc swtches, window automation, extra sirens, etc.), but people like(I used to be an installer at a large local retailer, now I'm a sales person directly across the street at the competitor's place)

get a viper 790 ..you can find them for about 300 on ebay.

 

i'm really stick with the 550...the insurance is taking care of it because my factory KARR alarm got tampered with. and yes it has motion sensors and all the trimmings.

the install should be good. the place that does it does Hummers and jags and all those cars...should be cool...i just need an alarm that's better than stock!
