stock itr ecu in gsr?
the following is "i'll try to help but not sure" information:
it should work, although its programmed for itr cams, i thought it might need a harness due to different wiring in 00 models..

it may not work the 00-01 obd2 gen2 ecu have an embolieizer so your 98 GSR might not be able to use it,also you had better have a free flowing manifold (i.e. skunk2 or a JG)because the itr ecu will not open your secondaries makeing your car run like ***,your best bet if you have a diffrent manifold would be to find a 97-98 ITR ecu.

Wouldn't the secondaries on the GS-R stay open instead of closed? When the IAB solenoid valve is turned off that is when the butterflies are open. Since the Type R ECU has no control for the IAB solenoid I would assume it would just stay off and leave the secondaries open full time.

I cant remember which years, but you are sort of correct. Some years it will stay open all the time and others it will stay closed. I believe it was the way IAB solenoid was hooked up.

just wondering, did anyone notice that 98 ecu should be OBD2 ver 1 and 00 ECU should be OBD2 ver 2?
about the redline, i don't see any problem reving to 8400rpm with stock cam. i used to have a gen 2 b16a with spoon ecu, rev it to 9k rpm with stock cam everyday, and every track event for a whole year. i am happy with it, so do the guy who i sold my engine to.
