FWD vs. RWD vs. AWD
I was watching some old racing videos the other day and was thinking about the Hot Rod class. Is the NHRA missing out on some good old variety? What I mean is in the IDRC, IDRA, and NDRA they allow more than just FWD cars in the various 4 cly. pro classes. Example the race I was watching was a old IDRC east coast race. There were 2 awd cars 2 or 3 rwd's and the rest were fwd's. It seemed much more exciting to watch. A lot more varitey.
Is it good that the NHRA has pretty much done away with that? I miss the variety. Like with the new PRO RWD and FWD classses I am going to miss a lot of the good competion of course this year changed alot but I am going to miss seeing all the variety of cars racing each other.

its good to watch but if your got an FWD drag car your at a big disadvantage vs the RWD and AWDs..its kinda unfair to pit them against each other
Its good to see some varity but each should race their own. the 3/4 chassis vs unibody bs just isnt fair. all it does it try to make it more fair by allowing less weight for the car that is at a disadvantage. rwd cars are so consistent.
unless if the fwd is on slicks, and have the rwd & awd cars on street tires
I was refering to all unibody cars. The quickest FWD guys have gone mid 8's. The fastest unibody AWD went 8.89. Not sure what the fastest 6 cyl or rotary was. But I figured with the sanctioning bodies moving the minnimum weights around they can try to even the playing field. I guess I miss the diversity.
