engine coolant drain plug?
does the d16a6 motor have an engine coolant drain plug similiar to the GSR motor (as shown in the pic below)? if so where is it?

thanks to bseries.net for the pic.
everytime i pull a motor, coolant is left in the motor and it spills everywhere. the motor i am pulling this time has been very stripped (car is being parted out), so i can't crank over the motor to get the coolant out (i read in the archives to do this so i can try this the next time).
thanks.

I thought there was some kind of drainage, but I thought it was on the back of the block, passenger's side. I may be wrong though. I just remember them draining coolant from the back side of the block somewhere.
the pic i have is of the GSR motor to show people what i am talking about if my wording of that plug is wrong.
i will definitely check the back of the block tonight. i want to keep the ground from getting so messy with coolant...i'm **** like that.

Damn now I find this out after I had a nice flow of coolant everywhere
You ever notice that just like oil coolant likes to spread out like everywhere?? You could drip a little about the size of a quarter come back and its like a foot in diamater!! Good post have to use this in a few weeks when I pull out an engine out of another parts car

ok so JdMB16Ahatch, droppedcrxsi and 89civicdx were right. the drain plug is in the exact same spot as the GSR one.
guys!
dropping the engine out of the bottom is so much easier. i had to ghetto jack the car to get it up high enough, but it was def. worth it. oh and my engine "holder" made out of wood worked awesome! i'll have to take some pics so you guys can laugh your asses off...

i ended up jacking up the car on the frame rail under the passenger's side foot area. i had the front of the car on 6 ton jack stands and the back of the car was sitting on a cynder block placed under the rear cross member where the LCAs attach. one i started jacking, though, the passenger side lifted up high enough so i could pull the motor out using my engine "holder". maybe i'll do a how-to on this.
I agree about pulling the engine out from under the car. Ive done 3 swaps and 2 were done jacking the car up and pulling the motor out. The other I used a hoist. Jacking the car up is much easier. Good luck with the install.
Hhmm I was waiting to see this posted up. It was amazingly easy, once we got the basics of it out of the way.
I never would have thought of it, you the man Keith.
