I have a JDM ITR front end w/ HID on a GSR that I just got done installing. We were wiring up the HIDs, and got them working. Then checking them after a few times, one of the HID bulbs burned out. And yes, we personally did the install, except for the welding of the radiator support. My questions are:
1. The ballast says not to open. I will have to in order to replace bulb, right?
2. Should I replace both bulbs (both sides)?
3. What color kelvin are the oem HID bulbs?
4. What is the part # for these HID bulbs?
5. Would I consider these HID bulbs oem? and if so, How would I get a replacement?
6. Cost on a set or just one HID bulb?
If someone would want to give me a hand, please do. I also posted the same question in the Tech section.
Thanks

p.s. And yeah, we got some pictures, but they are not uploaded quite yet. Will get on that soon. Also didn't want to post up pics, until the HID and all the other bulbs were working entirely. And waiting on the Lighting harness that we ordered from Mike M@ IPS

you can purchase on HID d2s bulb. You do not have to open the ballast to change the bulb. Just remove the ballast from the back of the headlight housing.
Try people like http://www.suvlights.com or http://www.autolamps-online.com to purchase the one hid bulb.
It does sound highly unlikely that you burnt a bulb out, are you sure that it is not your wiring (bad ground, or burnt out fuse). You will need to upgrade your fuse to at least 15A if you hooked up the HID to the factory headlight harness. The stock fuse is rated at 10A

Did you check your fuses? You have to uprate the headlight fuses from stock(to 15amp I think it is).
1. Do not open the ballast....not needed to do in replacing bulb.
2. Only replace the burned out one...if it is burnt out.
3. Probably 4300k
4. I think they are all universal HID bulbs(just make sure it is D2S and not D2R)
5. see above....IM me I can get you one cheap if you need it.
6. One HID bulb retail for about $120-$150 CDN
Definately check the fuses first though....

Thanks to BOTH of you. It was just a fuse. We got them checked, and replaced, .... now we will be able to see even better now that we have 2 HID headlights. Just the one beam was tons brighter than that of the 2 regular halogen bulbs.
Thanks again for helping and making us find our problem.

Tip: Don't touch the bulb with your bare fingers (use gloves)...the oil from your fingers will boil on the the bulb causing them to burn out prematurely..

I plan to make a whole new thread about the install and all.
And yes, it will be pic intensive too.
Just have to wait until he gets back from out-of-town ... Dave's taking his g/f back to the airport... she's headed back to Germany.
