Is a 100 Shot Dry Nos Setup from FX on a SOHC d16y8 dangerous? Will it greatly reduce the motor life? (66k miles right now)

are you freaking serious??? if so then i hope you have another motor waiting to swap in,..my boy put a 100 shot on his ZC motor (after countless times of begging him not to because i knew he would blow his shiet) ,...one pass down the track is all he got to run,..needless to say im not one to say i told you so but damn i think i mentioned it to him about 40 something times after that,...he kept on saying well your running a 75 shot,..yea well ive also upgraded my fuel system and did the main things i had to do to run a 75 shot,...plus my LS motor is a 98,..his was alot older

 

Would a 50 shot with stock internals be alright for a d16y8?

 

50 shot should be fine....just don't run crazy advanced timing and if you can, retard ignition timing a bit and run colder plugs to be on the safe side....

 

Where in San Diego do you live? im looking for a good shop to get some **** at and some work like a b18c5 swap if i get into UCSD^^

 

THATS REALLY BAD!!! do 100 on a wet shot a little bit safer but no guarantees try a smaller shot

 

**** mine blew with only 75 shot. I got one whole bottle but as soon as I refilled it the motor thru rods out the front and back of the block hehehe

my brother ran a 70 shot on his stock ls motor then swapped in a b20 and the first day he forgot to put in the pill so he was shooting about give or take 100-125 and it was running fine...even beat a s2k

 

blowing up your motor isnt a good idea...woud dohc be better?

to my knowledge the "DOHC D16y8" and DOHC D16y7" that you are asking about do not exist,..these are only SOHC motors

but d16y engines are derived from the original s2k engine isnt it? i thought all s2k engines had DOHC

with proper tuning, you can safely run up to 1/2 of your wheel horsepower, unless fully built. That's why you'll see the 5.0's running 100 shots fine, but CX blowing to bits
