different tires have different spec (tread wear ratings). ex. 150 tread wear rating
tire will last 1.5 times than a 100 tread. different tire manufactures have different ratings. its really up to your driving style though.
Performance tires will wear out faster than normal tires.
What I'd do is, identify how much tread I have on the tires before getting new ones.

stick a penny in your tread so that abe's head is facing down......if you can see the top of his head, replace the tires

well I was a little short on funds for a while, so I ran my tires until the first threads started to show through 
. Then I put my stock wheels back on until my new tires got here
