Default 1990 Accord w/ h22a swap...

ok, well first off i e-mailed a local shop a/b my h22a swap just to see how much they would do it for and this is what they sent me back:

OK, I talked to Jason, and it seems like that swap is going to be a pain in the rear .... It is do-able, but there maybe a cheaper solution depending on what your plan is. I.e., do you already own the H-22, are you looking for pure N/A power, or overall speed? etc.. etc..

Apparently, your tranny would work .. but the ecu and harness is where problems begin, along with converting the distibutor crap .. etc... I don't really know what I'm talking about, but I would suggest that you call the shop, or come by and talk to Jason. He will be here all week during our business hours ... so from 11am to probably about 5-6pm .

now from all the info that i gathered here and on every other honda board over the past 2 years or so, i came to understand that this swap wasnt a big problem, but they say it "might be do-able"?? wtf is up w/ that? and do these people know what they are talking a/b? (the guy who sent me the e-mail isnt the honda swap expert, but his co-worker jason is, and thats who he got the info from.)

i know alot of you guys on here have done it, so i want to mainly here from those who have. thanks.

Call a different shop!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't have them do a thing on your car. If they don't have the basic knowledge on how easy this swap is you don't want them working on the car.

I suggest you take the guys own advice. he admits he doesn't really know, and says you should talk to the 'expert' guy. now if you do that, and the expert guy is wrong to, then I definetly wouldn't take the car there.

Jason sounds like he should give up his shop and make it into a Pet Store....
What kinda shi% is that when he can't even do a simple swap as the H22/Accord.
In my experience, the H22 is the simplest swap other there to do in the Accord...

That swap is one of the easiest to do. It took me less than a week to do mine. The engine drops right in. If you get an OBD1 lude ecu, you will not have to rearrange the pins in the connectors, just add VTEC wires. The hardest part of my swap was getting the header to meet the cat. I would call another shop, they do not sound very knowledgable.

thanks for the info acclude. yea i'm gettin a 92-96 jdm engine so it should have odb1, correct?

**also if anyone who has done this swap into a 4th gen accord would want to write a "book" on how to do this swap from start to finish (including All details) and what to replace/check when u first recieve your engine, i would appreciate it. i think im planning on doing this swap myself so this would really help me out. i will also be willing to pay some money for the person who does it. If anyone wants to do it just e-mail it to me...tranmer_64@hotmail.com
